The Society of Nirmala Dasi Sisters, a religious community within the Archdiocese of Thrissur, was founded in 1971 by the Late Archbishop Mar Joseph Kundukulam. Rooted in the spirit of service, our mission is to embody the love of Christ by serving the most abandoned and marginalized members of society. Our unwavering commitment is to provide care and support to the poor, sick, and destitute without expecting any remuneration.
At the heart of our mission is a deep concern for those who are often overlooked and forgotten. We dedicate our lives to serving:
One of our key initiatives is St. Antony’s Karunalayam, a home for aged women located in Karanchira, 23 kilometers from Thrissur Town. Originally established by St. Mary’s Retreat Centre, Pazhuvil, on 1st January 2006, this charitable trust was gifted to our Society on 23rd April of the same year, beginning with 7 grandmothers in residence.
St. Antony’s Karunalayam serves as a sanctuary for elderly women who have no one else to care for them. Surrounded by a diverse community and situated near St. Francis Xavier’s Church, the home is a place of peace, dignity, and love. Here, we strive to rekindle the light in the hearts of our residents—women who have spent their lives in service to their loved ones.
We believe it is our collective duty as a society to stand by our elders in their time of need. At St. Antony’s Karunalayam, we take on the challenge of providing for our residents with whatever resources we have, making every effort to bring happiness and comfort to their lives.
The operation of St. Antony’s Karunalayam is made possible through the generous support of our well-wishers, friends, and donors. We are deeply grateful for the ongoing kindness and generosity that allow us to continue our mission of service. Your support helps us bring light and hope to those who need it most.
Thank you for being part of our mission. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those who have no one else to turn to.
