Society of Nirmala Dasi Sisters is a religious community in the Archdiocese of Thrissur, established in 1971, founded by Late Archbishop Mar Joseph Kundukulam. The prime concern of our Mission is to serve Christ in the most abandoned section of the society, poor, the sick, and the destitute without any remuneration. Our services are rendered in various sectors in different places like the care of unwed poor mothers, destitute babies, lepers, mentally challenged persons, HIV/AIDS patients, disabled and old people, terminally bedridden patients, mentally ill people, slum dwellers and Victims of drug addiction.
On 1st January 2006, St. Mary’s Retreat Centre, Pazhuvil, started a small home at Karanchira, in Irinjalakuda Diocese, namely St. Antony’s Karunalayam, a charitable trust for the care and support of deprived aged women. In the same year, on 23rd April this institution was freely gifted to the Society of Nirmala Dasi Sisters with 7 grandmas. St. Antony’s Karunalayam is a home for the Aged women. This home is situated in Karanchira 23 Kilometers away from Thrissur Town on the way to Kattoor. This home is surrounded by different casts of people. St. Francis Xavier’s Church is the Parish and it is near by the institute.
We aim to stimulate light in the hearts of our desperate elders, those who spent their life and energy for their beloveds. We believe it is the duty of our society to be with them in their distress. So we take up this as a challenge to give them whatever we have and make them happy. Karunalayam is purely maintained by the help of its well wishers. We are always grateful to our friends and donors.
